In my youth, I learned to disengage from the word “sisterhood”. Growing up with no one to call my biological sister, I was constantly surrounded by my brothers and their friends. I usually never knew girls long enough to call them my sisters because of the emotional draft and catty spirits that tend to linger between one female to the other.

Sometimes, growth isn’t loud. It isn’t flashy. It doesn’t announce itself with visible change. And yet, like roots quietly spreading beneath the soil, it’s happening—slow, steady, and faithful.
