The Beauty of Still Mornings: Finding Peace as a Mom

Motherhood is beautiful, but let’s be honest it’s also noisy, busy, and often overwhelming. Between the diaper changes (don't have these anymore, thank God), school drop-offs, meal prepping, and endless to-do lists, it can feel like there’s hardly a moment to breathe.
But tucked quietly in the early hours of the day, before my little ones feet hit the floor, there is a sacred gift waiting which is stillness.
🌱 Why Morning Stillness Matters
For moms, the morning can set the tone for the entire day. Even five minutes of intentional quiet can create a sense of grounding and calm that carries you through the chaos. Think of it as watering your own roots before tending to everyone else’s garden.
Stillness in the morning isn’t about perfection. It's about presence. It’s about giving yourself permission to pause, breathe deeply, and connect with God, your thoughts, or simply the sound of silence.
☀️ Simple Ways to Create Still Moments in the Morning
Sip Slowly: Brew a warm cup of tea or coffee (which ever you prefer) and actually taste it. No reheating in the microwave five times today. Just one mindful cup.
Journal Your Gratitude and Thoughts: Write down three things you’re grateful for before the day starts rushing in. Gratitude has a way of softening even the hardest mornings.
Light a Candle: I don't know about you but candles always calm me down. A calming scent can turn an ordinary room into a sanctuary.
Pray or Meditate: Even a two-minute prayer can realign your heart. It’s not about length, it’s about connection.
Step Outside: Feel the morning air, listen to the birds, and let creation remind you of God’s gentle rhythms.
💛 A Gentle Reminder for Moms
Mama, stillness isn’t selfish—it’s soul care. When you give yourself permission to pause, you’re better equipped to pour love, patience, and presence into your family.
So tomorrow morning, before the world begins to pull at you, choose one small ritual of stillness. Light the candle. Open the journal. Take the breath. Because in those quiet, gentle moments, you’re not just surviving motherhood, you’re rooted and growing in it.
XOXO,
